Paul A. Eckert D.D.S.

Paul A. Eckert, D.D.S, 84 of North Versailles, passed away after a long battle with cancer on Thursday, September 18, 2014. He was born March 27, 1930 in St. Mary’s, a son of the late Vincent A. and Marie (Pistner) Eckert. He graduated from Central Catholic High School in St. Mary’s in 1948, Penn State University with a degree in chemistry, and the University of Pittsburgh with a Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree. He served in the US Army for two years and was in dental practice for over 35 years in East McKeesport. He was a member of St. Robert Bellarmine Church in East McKeesport where he served as an usher and part of the men’s club. He was active in the Boyscouts, Harmonicats of Turtle Creek, Happy Go Lucky Square Dance Club of Dravosburg, The Odontological Society of Western PA (ADA), and the American Legion Post 701 in White Oak. In Addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sisters Gloria Jean Eckert and Joan Pfeuffer. He is survived by his wife Lois (Kuntz) Eckert who he married in 1956, over 58 years ago in St. Mary’s; children Kathleen Mehaffey of Monroeville, George A. (Carol) Eckert of Reading, Stephen P. (Nancy) Eckert of Leander, TX, Cynthia J. (Daniel) Sabol of Round Rock , TX, Robert V. (Jill) Eckert of Tulsa, OK, James E. (Christine) Eckert of Fayetteville, GA, Christine M. (Martin) Pingree of Beaver, and John M. (Cheryl) Eckert of Owasso, OK; twenty grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother Thomas M. Eckert of St. Mary’s; brother-in-law Thomas E. Kuntz of New Castle; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family will be received 2 to 8 pm Sunday at the Forgie Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083. A Funeral Mass will be held 10 am, Monday at St. Robert Bellarmine Church. Interment to follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, North Versailles.
