Velma Louise Campbell

Velma Louise (Kunkle) Campbell, 86, of North Irwin, died at home Tuesday December 22, 2015. She was born April 14, 1929 in Irwin, a daughter of the late James Marshall and Nora Ruth (Faulkner) Kunkle and was also preceded in death by a brother Daniel J. Kunkle Sr. She was a graduate of North Huntingdon High School Class of 1948 and a retired employee of Sterling Box Factory, Jeannette, where she had served as president of the union and had also served as treasurer of the Sterling Box Factory Credit Union. Velma was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Irwin and the Ladies Circle. She also volunteer for Pet Friends, Faith in Action, and Meals On Wheels, and was a former Girl Scout leader. Surviving are her daughters, Linda (the late Charles) McChancey of Sabillasville, MD, and Marilyn (husband Larry) Hoppe of Wichita Falls TX; grandchildren Cherann (Marc) Pepper, Christa McChancey, Heather Lynn (Daniel) Hubner, and Michael Alan Hoppe; great grandchildren Alex, Cullen, and Riley Pepper and Brian and Bryanna Hoppe; also a nephew Daniel J. Kunkle Jr. and his wife Kathy Thomas Kunkle. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and 11 a.m. to Noon Thursday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will follow at Noon with Rev. Roger L. Steiner, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery.
