Paul A. Schmidtke, 88, of North Huntingdon, died Thursday, July 29, 2021. He was born April 4, 1933 in Monarch, a son of the late Rudolph and Emma (Voldek) Schmidtke and was also preceded in death by siblings James R. Schmidtke, Edwina Hough, and Joana Nicolazza. Paul was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the Marines and a retired supervisor for Duquesne Light with 35 years’ service. After retirement he worked for B-Dry Waterproofing and McKeesport Hospital Engineering Department. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Irwin, and the Men’s Prayer Fellowship. He was a member of McKeesport-Duquesne Lodge 731, Free and Accepted Masons, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, and Syria Shrine. He was a member of the Bromas Club Golf League and was a longtime member of Pleasant Valley Country Club. He is survived by his wife of 65 years Shirley (Bahrenberg) Schmidtke; his children Teri (Mark) Filson of North Huntingdon and Mark Schmidtke of Beaufort, SC; his grandchildren Shawn (Elissa) Filson, Sally Greenway, Maddie (Spencer) Stipp, and Maggie Schmidtke; his great grandchildren Jonathan Cooper Greenway and Cameron Filson; siblings Nancy Kress of Connellsville and Jack Edwin Schmidtke of California; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. Masonic funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Monday evening in the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in First Presbyterian Church, 617 Main Street, Irwin. Those attending the funeral service please go directly to the church.
