Lloyd G. Coles, 96, of North Huntingdon, died Saturday September 5, 2015, in Golden Heights, Irwin. He was born June 21, 1919 in North Huntingdon, a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Williams Coles and was also preceded in death by brothers, William, Charles, Richard, Albert, and Howard “Coley” Coles and sisters, Catherine Zucco, Evelyn Bickerstaff, and Betty Bouldin. Lloyd was a retired employee of Westinghouse Electric Corp., East Pittsburgh. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Irwin, where he played in the dartball league for sixty years. Lloyd was an avid golfer playing at Carradam and Manor Valley golf Courses and was a big sports fan. He is survived by his wife of seventy one years, Mary K. Wroble Coles; children, Mary Beth (John) Diehl of North Huntingdon and Barbara (the late Shahen) Meckel of Penn Hills; grandchildren, Michael Bunda, Allison Papula, Nicole O’Leath, and Samantha Meckel; great grandchildren Andrew and Easton O’Leath; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the William Snyder Funeral Home Inc., 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Calvary Baptist Church, 101 Caruthers Lane, Irwin, with Rev. Mark Shaffer, officiating. Interment will follow in Union Cemetery, North Huntingdon. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to the activities department at g Golden Heights.
