January 16, 1945 - July 13, 2021
My name is Kerry Mellon Anthony. My soul left this earthly realm on July 13, 2021, surrounded by my loving family. I was born in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, on January 16, 1945. My parents were Clyde Edward and Ruth Elinar Anthony. When in labor, my mother did not make it all the way to the hospital due to snowy roads, so I have often said I was “born in a snowdrift.” The ambulance driver said he would not charge for the ambulance ride if my parents gave me part of his name – Mellon. Hence my middle name. I attended Penn Joint High School and graduated with honors in 1962. While I was in high school, I enjoyed playing basketball and softball. After high school, I attended Robert Morris College and earned my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. I worked very hard over a period of eight years, taking night classes while also starting my family and working full time in my career as a banker. I graduated Summa Cum Laude and continued my banking education at various schools including the School of Banking at the University of Wisconsin and Bucknell. My career spanned 38-1/2 years between Irwin Bank and Trust Company and the First National Bank of Herminie, ending as the Chief Operating Officer of the First National Bank of Herminie when I retired in 2002. An early retirement afforded me time to spend with my beautiful family and travel the world. Each grandchild enjoyed a special trip when he/she turned 12 years old. Oh, the memories we created!! I am a lifetime member of Brush Creek Salem United Church of Christ where I served many years as consistory president, Sunday school teacher, and liturgist. I also served as a former board member of the Brush Creek Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery and TrueFit Solutions. I served North Irwin Borough as tax collector for many years. I am also a member of Shidle Lodge No. 601, Irwin Chapter #400 Order of the Eastern Star, Syria Shrine, and Westmoreland Forest #77 Tall Cedars of Lebanon. In addition to my parents, I was predeceased by a grandson, Micah Aaron Rosenberg, and my sister Myrna Ilene Baughman. Surviving is my beloved wife, Molly Ann Shaffer Anthony. We were married June 26, 1966, and we just celebrated our 55th wedding anniversary. In addition, I am survived by my two daughters, Tammie Sue Lasswell, and Karen Ann Rosenberg (Dr. David Barukh), my six grandchildren, Katherine Ann Lasswell Vitale (Frank Charles), Calvin Anthony Lasswell, Arielle Mae Rosenberg (fiancé Jonathan Michael Fabijan), Hannah Ruth Rosenberg, Tova Rivkah Rosenberg, and Noah Anthony Rosenberg. Also surviving is my older brother, C. Edward Anthony, Jr . (Nancy Lynn) and numerous loving nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 pm, Friday, July 16, 2021, in the William Snyder Funeral Home, Main Street, Irwin, PA. A Masonic Service will be held in the funeral home at 7:30 pm Friday evening. Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, July 17, 2021, at the Brush Creek Salem United Church of Christ, 113 Altar Lane, Irwin, PA, with Rev. Diane Wiley officiating. Those attending the funeral service please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in the Brush Creek Reformed & Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, I would prefer that memorial contributions be made to Redstone Highlands Benevolent Care Fund c/o 126 Mathews Street Suite 2800, Greensburg, PA or Brush Creek Salem United Church of Christ. I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.
