Gerald R. "Jerry" Hodder

November 18, 1930 - April 11, 2021

Gerald R. “Jerry” Hodder, 90, of North Versailles, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on April 11, 2021. He was born November 18, 1930 in East McKeesport, a son of the late Gerald and Louise (Raymer) Hodder and was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years Marjorie (Thomas) Hodder, a brother Bert Hodder, and his loving sister Virginia Norberg. Jerry worked as a clerk/yardmaster for the Union Railroad for 42 years, retiring in 1990. He was a member of Beulah Park Methodist Church, a Navy veteran serving in the Korean Conflict, and a lifetime member and past commander of VFW Hilltopper Post 8430, East McKeesport Pa. He was also a former member of the Valley Lodge 714, F. & A.M, and current member of the Duquesne-McKeesport Lodge 731, F. & A.M. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman who loved spending time with family especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his devoted daughters Terri (Joe) Plank of Jeannette Pa. and Lori (Jim) McGonigle of Hesston, Pa.; his loving brother Jim (Linda) Hodder of Jamestown Pa.; his cherished grandchildren John (Shannon) McGonigle, Ryan (Rebekah) McGonigle, Anna Murphy (Jhon Jimenez), and Brandon Murphy; very special great grandchildren Colson McGonigle and Jhenaiah Jimenez; loving step-grandchildren Joe (Melissa) Plank Jr. and Nicole Plank; loving step great granddaughter Harper Plank; also numerous adoring nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm. Tuesday, April 13.2021, at the Forgie-Snyder Funeral Home, 1032 Broadway, East McKeesport, 412-823-8083, where a funeral service including Navy honors will be held at 6:00 P.M. The family expresses utmost gratitude and appreciation to the “AHN Hospice at home “for their compassionate assistance and care over these difficult weeks.
