Edward E. Wertz, 73, of Harrison City, died Sunday July 4, 2021, peacefully at home. He was born August 18, 1947 in Braddock, a son of the late Aaron Edward and Marion Louise (Harris) Wertz and was also preceded in death by his brother William Wertz. Ed was a graduate of Norwin High School, class of 1966 and a Vietnam Veteran having served with the Marine Corps. He was a retired employee of Curtiss Wright Corporation. He was a member of VFW Post 781, Irwin, and active with the Post 781 Honor Guard and also a member of American Legion Post 359, Irwin. He enjoyed fishing. Surviving are his wife Helen L. (Loughner) Wertz; his daughters Wendy (Greg) Gogets of North Huntingdon, Amanda (Ray) Farbarik of Irwin, and Kathie Wertz of Harrison City; his grandsons Adam (Amber) Gogets and Grant Gogets; his siblings Carolyn Johnson of North Huntingdon and Kurt Wertz of Harrison City; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday with Rev. Bruce Judy, officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery. In lieu of flowers a contribution can be made to Toys For Tots at www.toysfortots.org.
