Carl M. Simler

June 26, 1932 - January 15, 2022

Carl M. Simler, age 89, of Greensburg, was called home to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January 15, 2022. He was born June 26, 1932 in Penn, the son of the late Paul Pierre and Mary Simler. He attended both the Calvary Baptist Church of Irwin and West Hempfield Presbyterian. Carl was an Air Force veteran working with Aircraft Radar Systems during the Korean Conflict. He went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh with a Bachelor degree of Business Administration in 1960. Carl worked as an Industrial Engineer for the General Motors Corporation, Body by Fisher Automotive group in Dravosburg designing dies for auto parts before retiring in 1997. Carl was a passionate sports fan and enjoyed watching Pirate and Steeler games with his wife Irene. He enjoyed singing and was quick with a song for any occasion. Carl loved to travel visiting his relatives in Germany and France. Carl was a past member of the OVAM Herminie Chapter 196 of Mechanics. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his sister Pauline Simler. He is survived by his wife of over 61 years Irene D. Simler; children Marlene (Jeff) Skiavo of Greensburg, Marci (Paul) Mondock of Lancaster and Frederick (Michele) Simler of Boylston, Massachusetts; and grandchildren Stacy Skiavo, Deanna Skiavo, Cameron Mondock, Lucas Mondock, Annie Sue Mondock, Daniel Simler, Molly Simler and Bryan Simler. Friends and family will be received from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. Everyone will gather at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Friday for a funeral service. Interment with military honors will follow at Brush Creek Cemetery in Irwin.
