Betty May (Thomas) Reese Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Betty May (Thomas) Reese, age 90, of Irwin, passed away Saturday October 30, 2021. She was born May 12, 1931 in Tyrone, a daughter of the late Howell and Ethel Thomas. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania and was an accomplished artist. Betty went onto be an art teacher for schools in Pittsburgh and Hempfield for over 20 years. She was an avid backpacker, gardener and long distance swimmer that served as a swim coach to others. Betty was a member of the West Hempfield Presbyterian Church. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of over 66 years Alan G Reese; her brother Lawrence Thomas; her sisters Sara Jane Tomlinson and Mary Jagielo; and daughter-in-law Sara Reese. She is survived by her children Nancy (Jan Wein) Reese of Pittsburgh, Thomas Reese of Cortez, CO, and Steven (Louise) Reese of Bethel Park; her grandchildren, Reese McArdle, Tessa McArdle, Caitlyn (Moses) Duran, Dylan (Jamie) Reese, and Maxwell Reese; and her great grandchildren Ellie and Dorian Duran. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200, where a funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
