Louis J. List

Louis J. List, age 89, of Paintertown, died Saturday December 6, 2014 in West Penn Hospital, Forbes Campus. He was born July 21, 1925 in Pittsburgh, a son of the late George H. and Margaret M. (Wiedenhofer) List and was also preceded in death by a brother William A. List. Lou was retired from the maintenance department of the Veteran’s Hospital and was a Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a member of Paintertown Evangelical Lutheran Church, Shidle Lodge No. 601, Free and Accepted Masons, Irwin, the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh, Syria Temple, Pittsburgh, and the Syria Air Patrol, a member of the Order of Eastern Star, Irwin Chapter No. 400, and also a member of Paintertown Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by his wife of fifty seven years Janet E. (Hobaugh) List; children Bonita (James) Varley of Dorseyville, Marguerite (Roy) Smalley of Paintertown, George P. (Shirley) List of Claridge, Alice M. Schaeffer of Plum, and Michael E. (Erin) List and Eric L. (Rene) List both of Paintertown; grandchildren, Cassie, Sherri, John, Jason, Sarah, Shannon, Bryan, Meagan, Marcella, Jamie, Nikki, Colby, Joshua, Orie, and Gabriel; great grandchildren Kayla, Robert, Keith, Brittany, Alexa, Adin, Maya, Noah, Maeve, Luke, Makenna, Saige, Liam, Bryce, Mary, Sophia, Drakari, Faith, and Norah; also a nephew. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the William Snyder Funeral Home, 521 Main Street, Irwin, 724-863-1200. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Paintertown Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1041 Government Rd., Irwin, with Pastor Dorothy Worth, officiating. Those who have previously visited the funeral home please go directly to the church. Interment with military honors will follow in Union Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the Paintertown Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Paintertown Fire Department will hold services at 8 p.m. Monday Masonic services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday and Eastern Star services will be at 8 p.m. Tuesday all in the funeral home.
